Seizure Precautions
Proactive steps taken to ensure patient safety during and after a seizure event.
During the Seizure
- Turn patient to side to prevent aspiration.
- Clear area of hazardous objects.
- Loosen restrictive clothing.
- Never insert anything into the mouth.
Post-Seizure Actions
- Assess airway and suction secretions.
- Orient patient to time and place.
- Document duration, triggers, and clinical manifestations.
