NCLEX Prioritization
Acute Myocardial Infarction
Interruption of blood supply to the myocardium requiring immediate reperfusion.
MONA Protocol
- Morphine for pain/anxiety reduction.
- Oxygen to maintain saturation.
- Nitroglycerin for vasodilation (check BP first).
- Aspirin for antiplatelet effect.
Nursing Priorities
- Obtain 12-lead ECG within 10 minutes of arrival.
- Continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring for dysrhythmias.
- Prepare for PCI (catheterization) if STEMI is identified.
