Panic Disorder

Panic disorder involves recurrent, unexpected panic attacks and constant worry about future attacks.

Symptoms of Panic Attack

  • Palpitations and pounding heart.
  • Shortness of breath, chest pain, or choking sensation.
  • Derealization or depersonalization.
  • Fear of 'going crazy' or dying.

Nursing Care

  • Remain with the patient to provide calm reassurance.
  • Use short, simple sentences; avoid complex information.
  • Guide the patient through deep breathing exercises.
  • Ensure a safe, low-stimulus environment.
