A kidney disorder characterized by massive proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, and generalized edema.
Key Features
- Severe generalized edema/ascites
- Frothy appearance of urine
- Weight gain due to fluid retention
- Hypoalbuminemia causing oncotic pressure drop
Nursing Care
- Administer corticosteroids as prescribed
- Strict intake and output monitoring
- Daily weights at the same time and scale
- Low-sodium diet during active edema phase
Monitor
- Monitor for infection due to steroid use
- Check urine for protein content daily
