Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)
A condition where the femoral head does not fit properly into the acetabulum of the hip joint.
Clinical Findings
- Asymmetrical gluteal folds
- Positive Barlow and Ortolani maneuvers
- Limited hip abduction on the affected side
- Unequal leg length (Galeazzi sign)
Management
- Pavlik harness used for infants <6 months
- Maintain continuous wear of the harness
- Perform skin care to prevent breakdown under straps
- Provide parent education on harness adjustment and follow-up
