Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT)
The RCT is considered the gold standard for clinical research by minimizing bias through randomization and control groups.
Key Characteristics
- Random assignment of participants to experimental or control groups.
- Controlled variables to isolate the impact of the intervention.
- Blinding: Participants and/or researchers are unaware of group assignment to reduce performance and detection bias.
- High internal validity makes it effective for evaluating intervention efficacy.
Nursing Significance
- Provides reliable data for clinical protocols and nursing interventions.
- Reduces bias compared to non-randomized observational studies.
