PICO(T) Question Framework
The PICOT format is used to formulate searchable clinical questions to guide systematic literature searches.
Components
- P: Patient, Population, or Problem.
- I: Intervention of interest.
- C: Comparison intervention (if applicable).
- O: Outcome of interest.
- T: Timeframe for the outcome to occur.
Example Formulation
- In elderly patients (P), does daily ambulation (I) compared to bed rest (C) reduce the risk of pressure ulcers (O) over 30 days (T)?
- Focus questions must be narrow and specific to be answerable through evidence.
