Inferential Statistics
Inferential statistics allow researchers to draw conclusions about a larger population based on data collected from a smaller sample.
Key Concepts
- Null Hypothesis (H0): Assumes no significant effect or difference.
- Alternative Hypothesis (H1): Suggests a statistically significant effect exists.
- Statistical Significance: Determined by the p-value threshold, typically <0.05.
Types of Error
- Type I Error: False positive; rejecting a true null hypothesis.
- Type II Error: False negative; failing to reject a false null hypothesis.
