Acute Myocardial Infarction
A critical cardiac event involving tissue necrosis due to prolonged ischemia of the heart muscle.
Standard Care (MONA)
- Administer Morphine for pain if unresponsive to Nitroglycerin
- Provide Oxygen if O2 sat <90%
- Administer Nitroglycerin SL
- Give Aspirin (chewable) as first-line antiplatelet
Nursing Priorities
- Continuous ECG monitoring for ST-segment changes
- Perform serial Troponin levels
- Maintain absolute bed rest to decrease cardiac workload
Patient Teaching
- Educate on modifiable risk factors
- Discuss cardiac rehabilitation program
