Urinalysis (UA)
A screening test to detect various metabolic or kidney disorders through urine analysis.
Abnormal Findings
- Proteinuria: indicates kidney damage
- Glucosuria: indicates uncontrolled diabetes
- Nitrites/Leukocyte esterase: suggests UTI
- Hematuria: indicates stones, infection, or trauma
Nursing Tips
- Use mid-stream clean catch technique
- Ensure specimen is processed within 1 hour
- Correlate findings with clinical symptoms like dysuria or fever
- Document presence of color, clarity, and odor
