Assessment Findings
- Dyspnea and chronic cough
- Barrel chest and clubbing of fingers
- Use of accessory muscles
- Hypoxemia and hypercapnia
Nursing Priorities
- Teach pursed-lip breathing
- Administer low-flow oxygen (1-2L/min)
- Encourage small, high-calorie meals
- Promote smoking cessation
- Monitor pulse oximetry
