Definitions
- Systematic Review: A methodical process to identify, appraise, and synthesize all empirical evidence that meets pre-specified criteria.
- Meta-Analysis: A statistical technique that combines quantitative results from multiple studies to reach a summary conclusion.
Significance
- Eliminates the bias of 'cherry-picking' individual studies.
- Provides a more precise estimate of an intervention's effect size.
- Basis for many clinical practice guidelines (e.g., AHRQ, Joanna Briggs Institute).
