Levels of Morality
- Pre-conventional: Obedience and punishment-driven; egocentric.
- Conventional: Focus on societal norms, law, and social approval.
- Post-conventional: Principled conscience and ethical values above law.
Nursing Implications
- Understand that adolescents may challenge rules as they shift to post-conventional thinking.
- Use reward systems for younger patients to align with pre-conventional reasoning.
- Provide rationale for treatments to assist patients in navigating ethical decision-making.
