Kawasaki Disease
An acute systemic vasculitis that can lead to coronary artery aneurysms if left untreated.
Diagnostic Criteria
- Fever lasting >5 days
- Bilateral non-exudative conjunctivitis
- Strawberry tongue and cracked lips
- Polymorphous rash and extremity changes
Management
- Administer IV Immunoglobulin (IVIG) within 10 days of onset
- Administer high-dose aspirin
- Monitor for signs of congestive heart failure
- Avoid live vaccines for 11 months post-IVIG
