Prefixes denoting quantity or degree are essential for understanding medication dosages and the severity of clinical findings.
Common Prefixes
- Hyper-: excessive, high
- Hypo-: deficient, low
- Poly-: many, excessive
- Olig/o-: few, scant
- Brady-: slow
Application
- Polyuria: excessive urination
- Oliguria: diminished urine output
- Hyperglycemia: high blood glucose
- Hypokalemia: low blood potassium
